Candle Care
For optimal performance of your H & H candle, refer to your Candle Care Card with your order or refer to the care points below.
- Your candle will arrive with the correct length of wick to light immediately.
- After each subsequent burn, always trim your wick to get rid of any mushrooming and excess soot so that you have a clean wick ready to light next time. This ensures a clean and even burn each time.
- The ideal wick length is 5mm.
- When you light your candle for the first time, ensure you can leave it to burn for around 4 hours to allow the melt pool of melted wax to fill the diameter of the jar. This will ensure your candle will burn without tunnelling and wasting wax.
- Do not allow your candle to burn for longer than 4 hours at any time, to avoid the jar overheating.
- Always place your candle on a heatproof surface to protect the surface and away from drafts.
- Never leave your candle unattended while it burns
- Do not move a burning candle for fire safety and to ensure the candle burns evenly.
- Keep your candle out of reach of children and pets.
- Ideally extinguish your candle each time with a snuffer rather than blowing it out. This avoids excess smoke, debris falling into the melt pool from the wick and allows for a clean subsequent burn.
- Never allow your candle to burn to the very bottom of the jar. Extinguish your candle when approx. 1cm of wax remains and do not relight it.
- You can re-purpose your candle jar after cleaning it. Do not put your jar in the dishwasher as this will damage the jar. Use warm water, a little washing up liquid and a soft cloth to clean your jar. Never pour water with wax residue down your sink.
Our candles are made from plant-based wax. A characteristic of plant-based wax is that the surface of the candle can have small imperfections, particularly when the candle has re-set eg. dappling or small pits in the surface. This is due to the nature of the wax and does not affect the performance of your candle in any way.
